Welcome to "This Is My Story," a new blog series dedicated to highlighting the journeys of individuals within the Polyphony Music Resources family.
In these posts, we turn the spotlight on some of our dedicated church musicians. Through personal anecdotes and professional milestones, we’ll learn a little more about them and hopefully, get to know one another better.
This series aims to inspire and celebrate the invaluable contributions of our musical leaders. Join us as we delve into their stories and continue to strengthen our connections.

Tell us about your family.
My wife Sarah is a fellow pastor at Trinity Baptist Church and is a graduate of Baylor University and Truett Seminary. She is a gifted preacher and communicator. We have two young daughters, Junia and Sophia.
Favorite hobbies?
I've got more hobbies than I can count, but traveling, hiking, and baking rank at the top.
How have you participated in Polyphony?
I believe I was involved in the second Polyphony conference, way back in 2009 in Atlanta, GA. I came with my mentor and boss at the time, Richard Suggs. I've recently come back to Polyphony through my involvement in the 2024 Thriving in Ministry Cohort.
What do you think God is up to in your life right now?
God has confirmed in a myriad of ways that San Antonio will be home for many years to come. My wife and I are blessed to serve alongside one another in ministry at Trinity Baptist Church. We went through a season of discernment about where God might be leading during a recent Senior Pastor transition at TBC, but God sent us a wonderful new Senior Pastor (who we've actually known for a few years). My wife's parents are in the process of moving to San Antonio to bless us and our children, which just further confirms that God has a lot in store for us in the days ahead. We love the idea of being content with a long season of ministry in one location.
Tell us about your faith journey.
I grew up at First Baptist Church in Bowling Green, Kentucky. While FBC has a wonderful music ministry, my greatest inspiration was my grandfather, who led the singing and taught Sunday School for nearly 70 years at a little country Methodist church in Kentucky. I grew up wanting to sing like him and his example of servant leadership strongly influences me each and every day. I was baptized around age 8 in my home church and during a youth camp at age 13 I felt called to ministry. I was then mentored for about a decade by my Minister of Music and Youth Pastor. I was brought on staff at FBC Bowling Green as an intern during my undergraduate years. These experiences shaped me into who I am today.
Something interesting most people would not know about you.
I grew up farming in Southern Kentucky and when I started college I imagined that I'd probably be farming the rest of my life. God certainly had different plans!
What adjectives best describe you?
Dedicated, passionate, knowledgeable, logical
I loved learning more about you,Jacob, especially that you plan to stay in San Antonio for a long time. I like being in the Trinity Baptist Choir with you as the energetic leader.
